Preparing gymnase admission in Lausanne, in the heart of the city

A year to prepare the exam, not a few weeks.

In Lausanne, our year-long programme prepares candidates for the gymnase entrance exam: those who have finished compulsory school without the qualification giving direct access, and who are aiming for the École de Culture Générale, the École de Commerce or the Maturité track through the exam route. From September to the exams, the work is structured: building the foundations, consolidation, then mock exams corrected in detail.

Admission is decided by one exam, and it is prepared for

Three realities of the entrance exam that families often discover too late.

It is not a report card, it is an exam

Admission by this route does not depend on the year’s averages: it is decided by exams, on a given day. That changes the preparation entirely, which targets performance under exam conditions, not just understanding the lesson.

The essentials are built before winter

The programme to cover is broad. In our calendar, the first months build the foundations, with most of it studied before the end of the calendar year. What comes next, consolidation and practice, is only possible if that base is in place.

Mock exams reveal what is missing

A student can understand in class and still lose marks on the day: time management, instructions, writing. Mock exams corrected in detail expose those gaps while there is still time to fix them.

Results we measure

95%

of our students followed across the year passed their school year in 2025-2026.

Behind that number, a method: initial assessment, tested and supervised teachers, a report after every session, continuous adjustment of the programme.

Also at home and online

Our teachers travel to homes (Lausanne, Pully, Prilly, Renens, Épalinges, Le Mont-sur-Lausanne and neighbouring communes) and also teach online. The hourly price is the same as at the centre; only travel costs are added at home.

We also prepare gymnasium admission and follow students from the Lausanne gymnasiums (Gymnase de la Cité, Auguste-Piccard, du Bugnon, de Beaulieu), aligned with the ECR, the Year 11 exams (VP/VG) and the Vaud curriculum.

The method

Four steps, no improvisation

1

The free educational assessment

At the centre, at home or online: it establishes your child’s real level, identifies the origin of the difficulties and leads to a clear recommendation. It takes two minutes to request, with no commitment.

2

A tested teacher, chosen for your child

Every teacher passed a teaching test before their first lesson: mastering the subject is not enough, you must know how to explain it. They are chosen according to the student’s profile, and their work is followed by teaching supervisors.

3

Followed-up sessions, a report every time

For admission, the teacher covers the exam programme, primarily maths and French, then trains the student under exam conditions with mock exams and detailed corrections, right up to exam day. After each session you receive a written report: what was worked on, what is understood, what remains fragile.

4

A programme adjusted continuously

Teaching supervisors regularly review sessions, reports and progression. If the pace or the teacher does not fit, we adjust: replacement is simple and quick.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions from Lausanne parents

Where does gymnase admission preparation take place in Lausanne?

At our SOS centre in Lausanne (Rue Saint-Martin 9, 1003 Lausanne), easily reachable by public transport. Sessions run every day from 8 am to 10 pm by enrolment.

Who is this preparation for?

Mainly for students who have finished compulsory school but do not hold the qualification giving direct access to the gymnase. It prepares them for the entrance exams to join the École de Culture Générale (ECG), the École de Commerce or the Maturité track.

How much does the gymnase admission programme cost?

The year-long programme costs CHF 15,000 per year, all-inclusive: lessons, mock exams, corrections and materials. Paid in one instalment: CHF 12,750 (15% discount). In two: CHF 14,250 in total, that is 2 × CHF 7,125 (5% discount). Monthly: no discount, first payment in September, schedule set at enrolment. For a mid-year start, the amount is adjusted according to the enrolment date.

When does preparation start, and can students join later?

It generally starts in September and continues until the entrance exams. Joining mid-year remains possible: we then analyse the student’s level to evaluate what is already acquired, what still needs work and the best strategy for the time remaining.

Do you offer an intensive course before the exams?

Yes, during the Easter holidays: revision of the essential notions, targeted exercises, additional mock exams and detailed corrections. It is open to students on our year-long programme and to those who have worked on their own.

How is this different from ECR or Year 11 exam preparation?

They are two distinct offers. The ECR and the Year 11 exams concern students still in compulsory school. Gymnase admission preparation is a year-long programme, from September to the exams, for joining the ECG, the École de Commerce or the Maturité track through the exam route.
