Mock exams

Mock exams under real conditions

A test under the real conditions of the exam, corrected and analysed, to measure exactly where your child stands against what is expected.

What a mock exam is at SOS

The pupil sits a test in the exact format of the real exam: same type of questions, same duration, same instructions, no help. It is then corrected by the teacher and, above all, analysed with the pupil: which mistakes come from inattention, which reveal a concept not yet acquired.

What it measures

Not a mark, but a gap. Orientation into the VP, a move to level 2 in the VG, the weight of the ECR in the annual average: all of it is decided in tenths. The mock exam tells you how many tenths separate your child from the threshold, and in which subject, so that the work that follows is targeted rather than spread thin.

When it is most useful

Early enough for the diagnosis to be acted upon: from the start of the year for pupils aiming at the VP or gymnasium, and before each key moment, the ECR in spring, the level-change windows in the VG, the end-of-Year-11 exams. Repeated over the year, it also shows progress, which is what builds confidence.

How it fits into our support

The mock exam is a diagnostic tool, not an end in itself. It is built into our ECR, gymnasium admission and Year 11 preparation programmes, and can be set up within individual, semi-private or intensive lessons. Parents receive a report after the session so that the plan is shared.

Who is it for?

Pupils preparing the ECR (4P, 6P, 8P), the gymnasium admission exam, the end-of-Year-11 exams, or a level change in the VG.
