Where are you this year?
The right moment depends on your year
In the 2nd year
Topics are chosen in the autumn and the work starts early in the year (at Burier, work started on 20 January 2025). This is the time for the Full path: framing early means no summer rush.
Full pathIn the 3rd year
The hand-in falls at the end of October and the defence in December (at Renens in 2025: hand-in on 31 October, oral from 1 to 5 December). Finalisation path if the text is not finished, Defence module if it has been handed in.
Finalisation or DefenceExact dates vary from one gymnase and canton to another. In Geneva, for example, the TM spans the 3rd and 4th years of the collège (Guide du Travail de maturité, DIP Geneva).
Your questions
Frequently asked questions: maturity project
Is it allowed to get support for a maturity project?
Yes. Your mentor structures the project, keeps you on topic, reads your work and prepares you for the oral; you do the writing, which keeps your TM in your name. The exact rules (outside help, sources, artificial intelligence) vary by gymnase: your supervising teacher and your gymnase’s TM brochure are the reference, and your mentor applies them with you.
I have already started: do I have to pay for the full path?
No. You choose the path that matches how far along your work is: it only includes the sessions you still need. The first session takes stock of everything: if the actual stage is different, SOS suggests an adjustment, applied only with your agreement.
How do the sessions work?
Every one-hour session, at the centre or online, moves the work forward: your mentor reviews what you have produced, checks that everything stays on topic, strengthens what needs it, and you leave with a precise objective for the next one.
What is the difference with my supervising teacher?
Your supervising teacher remains the official academic reference: they validate and, with the jury, assess. Your SOS mentor helps you prepare each step, keep to your deadlines and make the most of their feedback.
How long is the support valid?
12 months from purchase for the paths, 3 months for the Defence module. Sessions not used by then are lost.
How do I pay?
The price is fixed and paid in one go, by invoice, before the first session. You can order from your Mon SOS account, or we do it for you. This support does not include a free assessment: the first session with the mentor takes stock. Once paid, it is not refundable; details are in our terms and conditions.
How many pages is a maturity project?
It depends on the gymnase. As an example, the Gymnase de Renens asks for about 20 pages (6,000 to 7,000 words) for individual work, and about 25 pages (7,000 to 8,000 words) for two or three students, with a 20 to 30-minute oral. Your gymnase’s TM brochure is the reference.
Can I use ChatGPT for my maturity project?
Rules vary by gymnase, but they are strict. At the Gymnase de Renens, using artificial intelligence without citing it counts as plagiarism: the written part becomes inadmissible and the grade is 1. Your mentor helps you follow your gymnase’s rules, sources and citations included.
Do you offer maturity project help outside the canton of Vaud?
Yes. Sessions take place at the centre (Vevey, Lausanne, Montreux) or online, so we can support students across French-speaking Switzerland. Your mentor follows your gymnase’s or collège’s calendar and rules.
Do you guarantee a grade?
No. Assessment is solely the gymnase’s responsibility. What we guarantee is a lead mentor, a framework and serious preparation all the way to the defence.
Your maturity project deserves a real plan.
