Exam preparation · Year 11 VP & VG

Succeeding in Year 11, VP and VG alike

The end of Year 11 certificate exams, prepared track by track.

Year 11 ends with the certificate exams. The requirements differ between the pre-gymnasial (VP) and general (VG) tracks: we prepare your child according to their track, with targeted revision of the exam subjects and the method that makes the difference, track by track.

01 · The stakes

Two tracks, two preparations

Preparing a VP student like a VG student would be a mistake. The expected level is not the same.

01

Pre-gymnasial track (VP)

High expectations, a door to the gymnase. Preparation aims at the required level, without settling for the minimum.

02

General track (VG)

Goals specific to the track and its levels. Preparation targets what really counts for the certificate.

03

An honest starting point

The initial assessment situates your child precisely against the expectations of their track, before building the programme.

02 · How to prepare

Two complementary phases of preparation

The base is built all year long. The intensive course, before the test, puts everything in place. The initial assessment points the way, without pressure.

The base · all year round

The groundwork, every week

This is the foundation: regular work on the curriculum, in supervised study or private lessons. Targeted exercises, working method, and a report after every session to follow progress throughout the year.

The boost · before the test

The intensive preparation course

During the holidays, a complete, concentrated preparation with its own dedicated method: a diagnostic test at the start, targeted training and mock exams in real conditions. It is the format that puts everything in place just before the exam.

See the course, step by step →

You follow everything, at every step

In both cases, regular educational reports show you where your child stands: what is already mastered, and what remains to be worked on before the exam. You never move forward blind.

03 · The intensive course

The intensive course, step by step

The most complete preparation, concentrated before the test. Here is precisely what happens, from the diagnostic test to the mock exams.

  1. 1

    Before the first session

    The diagnostic test

As soon as enrolment is confirmed, your child receives an online diagnostic test to complete before the preparation starts. It reveals precisely the notions already mastered, the skills still fragile and the gaps to treat as a priority. The preparation is thus personalised from the very first session.

  2. 2

    From the start

    Correcting the gaps

Before any full training, the teachers revisit the notions flagged by the diagnostic as not yet mastered. Each difficulty is explained in detail, then worked on with targeted exercises chosen according to the mistakes observed. Foundations are consolidated first.

  3. 3

    The heart of the preparation

    Progressive training

Once the foundations are solid, the difficulty rises at your child’s pace: targeted exercises, regular training, solving methods, organisational advice and working techniques. We build automatic reflexes, not cramming.

  4. 4

    As the exam approaches

    The mock exam

Your child sits a mock exam in conditions close to the official test. It evaluates what has been learned, flags the last weak points, observes time management and measures the level of preparation.

  5. 5

    After the mock exam

    The detailed correction

Each mock exam is corrected in depth, mistake by mistake, individually. The teachers go back over every difficulty encountered, then propose exercises specifically chosen to correct it. The goal: that your child understands their mistakes and knows how to avoid them on the day.

  6. 6

    Throughout

    Mental preparation

Success is not only about knowledge. Working methodology, organising revision, time management, self-confidence and stress management: your child is prepared to approach the test calmly, not just to know its content.

The promise

The certificate in sight.
The method to reach it.

VP or VG, Year 11 comes down to consistency and method. We build them in week after week, right up to exam day.

04 · Your questions

Frequently asked questions: year 11 exams, vp & vg

When do the end of Year 11 exams take place?

The certificate exams take place at the end of Year 11. Preparation can start from the very beginning of the school year: the more it is spread out, the more comfortable it is for the student.

Is the preparation different for VP and VG?

Yes. The requirements are not the same in each track. The initial assessment situates your child against the expectations of their track (pre-gymnasial or general), then the programme is adapted to the target level.

How do students prepare for Year 11 at SOS?

In two complementary ways. All year round, the base: supervised study or private lessons (one-to-one or semi-private), for regular work, track by track. Before the exams, an intensive holiday course puts everything in place, with a diagnostic test and mock exams. The diagnostic test and the mock exams are part of the intensive course, not of private lessons.

How much does Year 11 preparation cost?

The price depends on the formula chosen (one-to-one, semi-private or course). All our rates are listed in full transparency on our Pricing page.

Who runs the preparation?

Teachers who have proven themselves: each passed highly demanding teaching exams before giving their first lesson at SOS. You receive a report after every session.
